Therapy in Buxton, the heart of the Peak District

What is Invicta Therapy?

What we are about

Invicta means “unconquerable”.  We have chosen this name as we are passionate about seeing the physical and emotional freedom which comes with healing.  We believe that our hurts and pains do not have to conquer or indeed define us.  We drew inspiration from Nelson Mandela in naming this centre, from the Invictus Games and from the poem “Invictus” whose final line reads:

“I am the captain of my soul”

Our aim is to make therapy more available and more accessible in order for individuals to find their own unique path to healing.

What we are offering

At Invicta we recognise the importance of our health and well being physically and emotionally.  Life’s events, relationships, cultures and expectations can mean that things get tough at times and we hope to offer a place of calm, comfort, warmth and healing to all our clients and therapists.

We have a number of rooms for a range of services.   We offer room hire to therapists for their work and we offer a referral system for clients to find a specific therapy or service.  We also have a larger upper room designed to accommodate both training and meetings.

We opened Invicta in September 2018 and have grown into an established therapy centre with a large team of excellent and experienced therapists.  We have been running our placement programme for three years now and have found that our trainees are a real asset to Invicta; we are able to offer concessionary sessions and thereby make counselling more accessible to a wider range of people. Our trainees are closely supported and supervised by ourselves alongside having their own clinical supervision.

Our ethos is one of warm acceptance. We believe in the power of authenticity for the individual.

“…..the privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are”

Carl Jung

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,

I am the master of my fate,

I am the captain of my soul.
